There Will Come Soft Rains

“There Will Come Soft Rains” by Ray Bradbury, is a story about an automated house that has been long forgotten. The house has been abandoned by humans but metaphorically is still able to do the everyday tasks that the humans would do. This could be from the use of future technology that does not need humans to continue to work. I believe that it means that humans will always continue to move forward and gain new technologies but that humans might not always be here in the future to use the technologies that they created. Nature will always be here and is ready to take over at any point that humans can’t or won’t stop it.

“Among the ruins, one wall stood alone. Within the wall, a last voice said, over and over again and again, even as the sun rose to shine upon the heaped rubble and steam:

Today is August 5, 2026, today is August 5, 2026, today is…”

This Quote is saying that even though the house is no longer used by humans, evidence of humans is still there and time will continue to go on.
